Smart Automation for Flexible Workspaces

The Alexander-Behm-Haus Kiel, located in the Kiel Science Park, is a completed office and commercial building featuring modern spaces designed to meet a variety of user requirements. onework provided support through manufacturer-side planning and construction supervision, as well as the integration of smart room and building automation. Lighting, indoor climate control, occupancy and daylighting functions, sun protection, and central control logic were integrated into a scalable automation structure.

Thanks to onework's automation, the Alexander-Behm-Haus has been technically configured so that flexible space utilization, user comfort, and efficient building operations work together seamlessly.

Challenges

Flexible Land Use

The building spaces had to reliably accommodate the diverse needs of users and remain adaptable over the long term.

Comfortable Work Environments

Work and living spaces require stable conditions for lighting, indoor climate, and sun protection.

Networked Building Functions

Lighting, indoor climate, occupancy data, and shading had to work together within a consistent control logic.

Efficient Building Operations

Automation should reduce unnecessary energy consumption, minimize manual intervention, and make day-to-day operations more transparent.

The Solution with onework

onework CORE

onework CORE serves as the central integration platform for room and building automation. Building functions, operating states, and control logic are consolidated and made transparently controllable.

Intelligent Lighting Control

Lighting is regulated based on room usage and the availability of natural light. This improves the comfort of the space while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

Sunshading and Indoor Climate

Shading and indoor climate are automatically coordinated. This creates stable comfort conditions and enables more efficient use of technical systems.

Occupancy and Daylight Functions

Occupancy and daylight data are used to control room functions based on demand. This ensures that occupied areas are reliably supplied with lighting, while unoccupied areas do not consume unnecessary resources.
